About Us

Renewable Energy Solutions was founded in 2010 with the intentions of:

  1. INTRODUCING investors to project developers and investment opportunities
  2. ARRANGING financing for infrastructure projects featuring renewable energy
  3. DEVELOPING new international markets for sustainable products

What was true in 2010 regarding mankind’s need to find alternative energy sources is all the more true 9 years later: the planet as we know it is facing incredible challenges to provide for over 7 billion inhabitants that desire ever-increasing standards of living, and if projections are accurate, that 7 billion will swell to nearly 11 billion by the year 2100.

Due to a persistent shortage of development capital, developers often do not have the financial capacity to actually build and connect to the grid. After perhaps several years of development including the gathering of data, harnessing community support, arranging land lease options, doing environmental and wildlife studies, securing permits for land use, studying transmission capacity and negotiating off-take contracts, a developer has often invested hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars to bring the project to the point of construction. Unable to make the final investment to build and connect, the developer will often sell or partner with a bank or institutional investor capable of financing the construction.

RES was founded therefore as a bridge between developers and the investment community:

         > A bridge for Developers to the capital markets

         > A bridge for Investors seeking renewable, sustainable, impact investments

In all cases, RES focuses on projects that do something to mitigate damage to the planet, especially solar or wind, but also hydro, biomass and geothermal.

For investors seeking early, late-stage or connected renewable assets, RES provides access to an ever-changing pipeline of project opportunities in Europe and the US. Each investment offered by RES can be considered an “impact investment”, for in all cases, the projects offer both measureable financial and environmental benefits.

A growing number of leading traditional banks and investment firms, including BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, Bain Capital, JP Morgan Stanley, Citibank and Bank of America are quietly bringing an investment trend into the mainstream.   These leaders champion the idea that businesses and investments can be a powerful tool for social and environmental good, beyond the jobs they create. These institutional investors believe that products and services that address daunting social and environmental challenges can also generate compelling financial returns for their investors. As a point of interest, in 2018 total Assets under Management (AUM) in this category totaled over $500 billion. As a function of impact investing, these investors commit to investing with intention, meeting measurement standards and ensuring transparency so that the true impacts of investing with intention can be measured.
